October 21, 1933 - November 2, 2020
Jack passed away peacefully at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre on November 2, 2020, at the age of 87, with his daughters by his side. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years, Sharon, his daughters Roberta North (Barry) and Rhonda Oostenbrug (Tom), and his grandchildren, Tia Prince (Benjamin) and Brett Oostenbrug.
Jack was born in Colleymount (Burns Lake) on October 21, 1933, to Phyllis and Lloyd Roberts. He was the second youngest of six children. He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings (Benjamin, Irene, Myrtle, Ruth, and Marilee).
In his younger years and before moving his family from Surrey to Aldergrove in 1974, Jack lived and worked in numerous small towns in BC. He drove logging, cement and gravel trucks and helped build many roads throughout the province.
He also cut the road into Aldergrove Lake and helped build the lake. He was proud of his skills as a front-end loader operator and enjoyed working for B&B Contracting for 23 years, until his retirement in May 1992.
He was also a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 115 for 45 years.
Jack was always ready to help anybody, and he loved to share his thoughts and opinions with anyone who would listen! He was happiest when surrounded by his family, and he was especially proud of his grandchildren and their accomplishments. He had a great sense of humour and loved to tease and make people laugh. He could even sing a great rendition of "Bud the Spud"!
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kidney Foundation - BC and Yukon Branch or any other charity of your choice. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
Rest in peace. You are dearly loved and will be missed.
