Gareth passed away at Maplewood Care Society at the age of 79 after a long battle with dementia. He is survived by his wife (Vivi Ann Keyworth), siblings (Bryce and Craig Keyworth, and Carolyn Ramsay), children (Kelly and Kent Keyworth), stepdaughter (Kathy Keyworth) and four grandchildren (Jeremy and Derek Poustie, and Kristen and Kyle Keyworth). He was predeceased by his wife Margot Keyworth in 2010.
We will remember Gareth's great strength, determination, dedication to his family and love for life.
Obtaining his Chartered Accountant designation at a young age, he quickly rose the corporate ladder and was admitted to partnership with Chadwick Pots (subsequently merged with Touche Ross) at the age of 29. Gareth was driven in his career and was well respected and liked by all his colleagues and clients. He was an active member of the Rotary Club, always giving back to his community and was named a Paul Harris Fellow.
Although disabled by an aneurism at the age of 37, Gareth persevered and lived a full happy life.
He was well known for walking everywhere and continued to do so for as long as he was able. Even with only one hand, he was an avid woodworker and sent out over 100 Christmas cards for many years. He travelled the world and enjoyed socializing with friends and family.
There will be no service held at his request. Instead, please either make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or perform a random act of kindness while remembering Gareth, the quiet smiling man we loved and will miss dearly.
