In loving memory ~
Michael "Mike" Skwarok passed away September 17, 2022, at Langley Memorial Hospital. Mike had recently celebrated his 97th birthday with family. He was well loved by his family and friends; he was never without a smile and a willingness to help others in need. Mike will be remembered for his love of storytelling, western movies, feeding the neighborhood birds, and fixing things in his shop. He was a loving husband, father, and papa.
Mike is remembered by his wife of 68 years Elizabeth "Betty" Skwarok; children Patrick (Eleanor) Skwarok, Donna (Kerry) McCullagh, and Ricky (Annette) Skwarok; granddaughters Casey McCullagh, Erin Skwarok, Karla McCullagh, Tara (Cody) Hendriksen, Krista (Chirag) Skwarok, and Ally Skwarok; great- grandchildren Libby and Richie Hendriksen; and sister Kaye Matsuko.
Mike was born in Mayfair, Saskatchewan September 12th, 1925. He left his home in Shell Lake, Saskatchewan at 15 to travel and work all over Canada until deciding to settle in Prince George with his brother Peter. He met Betty and they married December 22nd, 1953, in Kamloops. They moved to Langley where they owned a service station at the corner of 248th and Fraser Highway (then the Trans Canada Highway). Here they raised their three children and were active members in the community. He remained in Langley the rest of his life, always ready to help his family and friends with any mechanical issues. The family would like to include a special thank you to the staff at Maple Hill Care Home for their care and compassion.
There will be no service by his request. The family would like to ask that those who wish to express sympathy to consider donating to the British Columbia Children's Hospital Foundation.
