Phyllis Lorraine Hamberg (Weatherby) passed away peacefully on May 22, 2018 at the Abbotsford Hospital at the age of 86. Phyllis was born at home on Fraser Highway between Ross and Mt. Lehman Roads and was the oldest daughter of Roy and Myrtle Weatherby.
She is survived by brothers Jim (Pat) Weatherby, Arden Weatherby, Herb (Norma) Weatherby and sisters Leila (Keith) Sim and Pat Rinke.
She was predeceased by husband Helmer (Buzz) Hamberg (1977), son Mark Hamberg (1968) and her life partner William (Bill) Franklin (2012).
She leaves behind daughter Linda (Hans) Bodden (McDonald/Hamberg), son Lance Hamberg, son Darren (Joanne) Hamberg and daughter Karla Hamberg.
She will also be missed by step-daughter Rosalind (Robert) Plumtree (Kolby/Franklin), step-sons Ian (Suzanne) Franklin and David Franklin. As well as a combined family of many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins who will remember her always.
Phyllis was very involved in the community whether out of province with her husband and young family or locally when they settled on a property adjacent to the family homestead in Aldergrove. She lived there for 40 years before retiring with Bill to Abbotsford 13 years ago. She was an active member of the Aldergrove United Church and later Trinity Memorial United Church in Abbotsford.
She was also actively involved with The Pinegrove Community Club, Women’s Institute and Reunion, The Aldergrove Agricultural Society, The Fall Fair, and the Heritage Society as well as finding spare time to participate in garden clubs and 5 pin bowling.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 1:30 PM in the Trinity United Church in Abbotsford.
