August 28, 1933 - August 16, 2024

In loving memory ~

Ricardo Marcondes de Montezuma was born August 28th, 1933, in Oyama, BC, the son of John Marcondes de Montezuma and Marjorie Willis (nee Collings).

They had left Vancouver to ride out the Great Depression in the Okanagan of BC and returned to Vancouver in 1939 with the promise of better prospects but it was short lived as WWII was looming. John enlisted in the Royal Canadian Airforce but Marjorie's health deteriorated after years of hardships and their five children were put into the Loyal Protestant Home for Children in New Westminster, B.C.

Now known as Dick, he attended John Oliver High School in Vancouver, then went to Radio School where he became a meteorologist/wireless operator, a vocation he practiced with The Department of National Defence and the Coast Guard on the B.C. West Coast until his retirement.

Dick married Maureen McEachren in 1967, in New Westminster, BC. Maureen had a son, Tracey, from a previous marriage whom he adopted. Tracey married Kathy, and they had three children. He was a long-time resident of Langley, B.C., and an avid golfer in his later years. He was known by his friends and family for his mischievous sense of humour.

Ricardo was predeceased by his parents, his wife Maureen and siblings; Juan (Monty) Elizalde de Montezuma; Anna Maria de Montezuma and Sarah Louisa (Sally de Montezuma) Kerr as well as his step-son, Tracey. He is survived by his sister, Marcheta del Nevada (de Montezuma) Leoppky and Tracey's wife and their three children as well as many nieces and nephews.

Ricardo passed away August 16th, 2024, in the Three Links Manor, Kelowna, BC.
