In loving memory ~
Rod's sudden and unexpected passing has left a void in many lives.
Born in Vancouver, he grew up in Aldergrove and Langley. A civilian member of the RCMP, he retired in 2014 and kept busy travelling, skiing, hiking, volunteering with Scouts Canada and he was an active member of the Terminal City Glass Co-op. Never one to let grass grow under his feet (except for his famous naps), he attended Douglas College and learned Spanish.
Rod was a loving, committed family man who was gentle and kind, but firm. He loved unconditionally and fully. He was the rock in our family, the voice of reason and the one constant source of stability. We were privileged to have shared our lives with him.
He is survived by his wife Carol Diack-McCubbin, daughter Amanda (Steve), son Stuart (Jenn), his granddaughter Emma, brothers Bruce (Cindy), Craig (Catherine), sister Wendy (Don), several nieces, nephews and cousins, especially Stephanie.
Rod's time on earth was cut short but he lived a rich and full life. The stars will shine brighter with him among them.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
A Celebration of Rod's life will be held in 2023.
