May 9, 1932 – Jan 19, 2018
Viola May Kristina (Harrington), 85, of Aldergrove, B.C., passed away on January 19, 2018 after a long illness.
Vi was born on the family farm in Renown, Saskatchewan. She was the fourth of five daughters. In 1945 the family moved to B.C. Vi graduated from Kitsilano High School in 1949. She met her future husband Bill at a church dance and married in 1953. As well as raising a family, Vi worked as a UBC purchasing agent for 25 years.
After retiring in 1992, she and Bill travelled the world. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge, attending theatre productions and spending summers with the family at Galiano Island. Vi always gathered the family together for celebrations. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and a wonderful life partner to Bill.
She will be dearly missed by her husband of 65 years, her daughter, Lori (Vic), son, Jim, her grandchildren, Deborah (Jim), Colleen (David), Jared (Lacey), Cody (Katy), Gavin, her great grandchildren, Ava, Milo, and Darcy, her sisters, Ernestine (Ted) and Joyce, and her many nieces and nephews.
We fondly think of Vi now being reunited with her sisters, Dorothy and Helen.
A memorial to celebrate her life will be held on May 12, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sharon Chapel, United Churches of Langley, 21562 Old Yale Road, Langley.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
