We occasionally like to order in pizza for dinner. In the past it has cost us including taxes $32.76 plus a tip for delivery.
It now costs us $37.20 plus a tip for delivery. I thought HST was supposed to lower prices. Now I am paying $4.44 more for the exact same product. The businesses that are saving money because they don’t have to pay all the taxes and do all the paperwork, are definitely not passing those savings on us, the taxpayers.
Thinking that the breadmaker I’m going to buy will make it cheaper for me to make my own pizza dough and thereby, a cheaper pizza with some homegrown ingredients. Less business for the business — what can I say?
