LETTER: Langley car show should allow burnouts

A local car buff doesn’t buy the Cruise-In arguments against burnouts

Dear Editor,

The concerns about burnouts has moved me to comment.

Are burnouts dangerous? In all probability, no.

Is there a way to stops enthusiasts from burning-out? In all probability, no.

I have not, nor do I plan on attending the Langley Good Times Cruise-In. It is not because I have anything against hot-rods, quite to the contrary, I have been a fan of muscle cars my entire life. Don Prudhomme, Don Garlits, John Force should give you an idea how long I have enjoyed powerful North American cars.

The attendance is reported as increasing, so obviously people enjoy the show. Do they all go to the show for the same reason. I will bet a nickel that they don’t? So what is the fuss. The towns and organizers have put something wonderful together.

The worry-warts should resign, stay home or find a cave, and let those having fun continue to have fun.

Raymond Rousseau, Langley
