Dear Editor,

I went for a nice bike ride out to Glen Valley Park with a friend Oct. 6.

On our way back, we were passed by a coal train at about 1 p.m. along River Road.

There was a cloud of dust coming off the entire length of the train as it went by.

There was so much dust it looked like smoke.

We could feel it in our lungs as we rode.

When I got home, I looked in the mirror, and my face was black.

My nose was full of coal dust.

I thought these coal trains were supposed to have their cars hosed down before entering the Lower Mainland. This was to be done to reduce the coal dust.

With all the bad air advisory notices, why are we still importing smog into our area?
