Abbotsford’s Alex Allan won her second U18 national women’s hockey bronze on Sunday.

Abbotsford’s Alex Allan is now a two-time National Women’s U18 hockey bronze medalist.

The Grade 12 St. John Brebeuf Regional Secondary School student helped lead Team B.C. to a 2-1 overtime win over Saskatchewan in the tournament’s bronze-medal game in Quebec City on Sunday.

Allan also helped B.C. win a bronze in 2016.

She played all five games for B.C. at the event, recording one goal and two penalty minutes.

Team B.C. opened with a 2-0 win over Saskatchewan on Nov. 1 and then defeated Manitoba 3-0 on Nov. 2.

The team continued the preliminary round on Nov. 3, with a 4-3 win over the host Quebec squad. Allan scored the winning goal with 16 seconds left in the third period.

B.C. finished the preliminary round with a perfect 3-0 record, but then fell to the eventual gold-medal-winning Ontario Red in the semi-final on Saturday. They bounced back with the aforementioned win in the bronze game over Saskatchewan.

Allan now returns to the Junior Women’s Hockey League’s Pacific Steelers. She will travel with the team to compete at tournaments at Ridley College in Ontario from Nov. 18 to 20, Kitchener from Dec. 2 to 4 and Minnesota in January.

The talented defender has also secured a hockey scholarship to Boston University, and she begins her studies and athletics at that school next fall.
