Aldergrove Bantam Blues win League Final

Aldergrove Bantam Blue team prevailed 7-1 over the Aldergrove Bantam Red team in the final on Wednesday evening at Aldergrove Athletic Park.

The Aldergrove Dodgers Blue defeated the Aldergrove Dodgers Red in the Spring League Final on June 22.

Both of the Aldergrove Bantam 'A' 15-U teams finished the spring season at the top of the league.

It was the Aldergrove Bantam Blue team which prevailed 7-1 over the Aldergrove Bantam Red team in the final on Wednesday evening at Aldergrove Athletic Park.

The Aldergrove Dodgers Blue defeated the Aldergrove Dodgers Red in the Spring League Final on June 22. The Dodgers Blue jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning and held on for a 7-1 final.

The game featured several amazing defensive plays, including an over-the-shoulder diving catch by Josh on a full run in centre field that ended up breaking his collar bone.

Players of the game were Ethan Shaw for the Dodgers Red with a solid hit and a shoestring catch.

For the Dodgers Blue, Caden Welch went six scoreless innings to receive the player of the game award.

Congratulations to both teams on great seasons and to the Blue team for the league title.

The Dodgers Blue advanced to the finals after defeating the Abbotsford Mariners 8-1 behind strong pitching performances by Caden Welch and Michael Adam, June 20.

Meanwhile, on the same night, the Dodgers Red came from behind in dramatic fashion in the bottom of the seventh to nail down the 10-9 victory over the Chilliwack Red Sox.

The Blues had a great season, finishing first in the regular season with 19 wins and one loss. However, the Reds were not far behind, finishing in third place with 11 wins, eight losses and one tie, behind the Chilliwack Cubs (15 wins and five losses). The nine-team league also includes (in order of finish) the Chilliwack Expos, Chilliwack Red Sox, Chilliwack Wild, Abbotsford Mariners, Mission Twins and Abbotsford Blue Jays.
