Aldergrove Skating Club (ASC) synchronized skating teams returned home with flashy new medals this month.

Five Aldergrove teams competed on Dec. 7 at the BC/Yukon Championships held at the South Surrey Arena.

Aldergrove’s beginner team debuted a Little Mermaid routine and were assessed at a silver standing.

The elementary Snow Crystals skated two great programs, finishing in second place and snatching a silver medal.

The next-oldest level of skaters, ASC’s juvenile team, “skated solid programs to the Adams Family music,” said head coach Colleen Laferriere.

The team also came away with a second-place standing and silver medal.

The pre-novice Black Ice team worked hard “to express themselves” while skating to the Eurythmics’ Sweet Dreams, missing an official placement but coming close to fourth.

The adult-2 level Ice Spirits gave two strong performances to Carol of the Bells and were awarded the bronze medal.

The teams are back practicing preparing for their next competition in Red Deer, Alta. at the end of January.
