Aldergrove Kodiaks extend win streak to six

Aldergrove Kodiaks defeat Port Moody Panthers 6-1 in PJHL hoockey action Dec. 15

The bear has awakened from its slumber, just as Aldergrove Kodiaks general manager Rick Harkins predicted.

Four goals in the Saturday game's first 10 minutes were more than enough to push the Kodiaks to a season-high sixth-straight victory.

Samuel Ramsay opened the scoring 23 seconds in on Dec. 15 as the Kodiaks cruised to a 6-1 win over the Port Moody Panthers.

The junior B PIJHL hockey game was played at the Port Moody Arena.

Following Ramsay's goal, Ryan Veillet struck for a pair of goals and Tyson Solotki made it 4-0.

The Kodiaks' Stefan Gonzales and Port Moody's Jackson Surbey traded second period goals before Kodiaks captain Daniel Higgs completed the scoring in the third.

Mark Menicucci made 31 saves. The Kodiaks goaltender leads the league with a sparkling .934 save percentage while also ranked third in goals against at 2.19.

Aldergrove improved their record to 16-11-1-0.

The Kodiaks play their final game before the holiday break on Dec. 19, hosting the Delta Ice Hawks at the Aldergrove Arena; puck drop at 7:15 p.m.
