The Aldergrove Vipers U16 girls played a remarkable game Sunday, March 1, which resulted in the team winning a silver metal in their League Championship Finals.
The Vipers faced the Shocks, a strong team from the Langley Football Club.
With the game being tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time, two ten-minute overtime halves still could not determine a winner. The game would go into a shoot out in which the Langley Shocks won by one shot. It was a tough defeat for the Vipers.
“Both teams battled hard,” said Melissa Baron, Vipers assistant coach. “It was anyone’s game. The girls worked hard all season long, we are all so proud them.”
The team consists of Madison Logan, Miranda Buchinski, Kelsey Greening, Karen Kaur, Zoe Kriznic, Jessica Paulus, Sydney DeGianni, Casey Yakabuski, Hayley McKen, Codie Owens, Freya Carson, Jenna Dionisio, Brittney Mitchell, Amber Mitchell, Taylor Maher and Cheye Gustafson. Coaches are Elisa Stappler, Melissa Baron, Steve Greening and "Sammy".
