It was a quick visit back to the Lower Mainland but a pair of Langley women left with a gold medal for their efforts.

Langley’s Lisa Roman and Kristen Bauder partnered up to win gold at the 2017 Rowing Canada Aviron national rowing championships.

The competition was held Nov. 9 to 12 by Rowing BC at Burnaby Lakes and featured more than 200 athletes from across Canada hitting the water.

Roman and Bauder were competing in the women’s pair race, defeating Ontario’s Christine Roper and Nicole Hare for the gold. The B.C. duo of Olivia King and Morgan Cathrea won bronze.

Both women are 28 years old and left Langley five years ago and are now based out of London, Ont. with the Canadian national team program.

Roman represented Canada at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, helping the team place fifth in the women’s eights.
