Aldergrove Kodiaks sniper Stephen Ryan scored twice in the second period to ensure a 4-3 Kodiaks win over the Port Moody Panthers September 25 at Aldergrove Arena.

Ryan also received the game's first star for his work, and line-mate Adam Callegari was third star for his pair of assists to Ryan.

The Kodiaks had been leading 3-0 at 4:33 of the second period when Ryan snapped in his first goal. Kodiaks' scorers in the first period were Ryan Simpson, from Spencer McHaffie and Joshua Cronin on a power play at 9:39, and Joshua Pollock on a breakaway at 13:49, from Spencer Unger.

However, the Panthers picked up their game, with Sammy Zeinab scoring at 14:57 for their first. Kodiaks' Ryan scored his second goal at 16:21 on a power play to end the second period at 4-1.

The only scoring in the third was from Panthers' Daniel Delbianco, with a pair that brought the Panthers close to evening up the score, and earned him the second star.

There were a lot of penalties called, with the Kodiaks scoring on two of 10 power plays and the Panthers on one of eight.

The Kodiaks did outshoot the Panthers, 50-41.

The result did keep the Kodiaks at the top of the Harold Brittain conference with 10 points after six games (5-1-0-0). Abbotsford follows with seven points after six games, while Mission, Ridge Meadows and Port Moody have four, three and two points, respectively, after five games each.

The Kodiaks also dominate the league's scoring leaders chart, with Stephen Ryan at 13 points, Jackson Waniek at 12, while Spencer McHaffie, Kenny Prato and Panthers' Daniel Delbianco each have nine points.

The Kodiaks' next game is at home versus the Mission City Outlaws, 7:15 p.m on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

They travel to play the Ridge Meadows Flames, Friday, Oct. 4 at Planet Ice and host the Abbotsford Pilots at Aldergrove Arena on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 7:15 p.m.
