Strong performances by Langley Olympians Swim Club members Bailey Herbert, Madison Belgica, Joshua Kim, Hugh McNeill and Luke Stewart-Beinder produced impressive results at the 16th annual PCS Christmas Cracker Invitational Swim Meet that drew over 700 swimmers from across the province to Victoria over the weekend.
The club sent 47 swimmers to the Victoria event that started on Friday, Dec. 7.
By the time it wrapped on Sunday, several club records had fallen and multiple first place finishes were being celebrated.
Bailey Herbert placed in seven events over the weekend, breaking six club records in the process.
Herbert placed first and broke the club record in the women’s 15 and over 400m individual medley and also placed first in the 200m breaststroke.
She placed second and broke club records in the 200m freestyle, individual medley, 100m breaststroke and 200m butterfly.
She also finished third in the 50m freestyle.
Madison Belgica placed in a total of seven events.
Belgica was first in the women’s 12 and under 400m freestyle, 400m individual medley and 800m freestyle.
She also placed third in the 200m freestyle, 200m individual medley, butterfly and freestyle .
Joshua Kim finished first in the men’s 15 and over 100m breaststroke 200m breaststroke, 400m freestyle, 100m freestyle and the 400m individual medley.
Hugh McNeill was first in the men’s 15 and over 200m backstroke, 800m freestyle, 400m individual medley and was third in the 100m backstroke
Luke Stewart-Beinder placed first in the men’s 13-14 1500m freestyle and 400m freestyle.
