A record-setting amount was raised at the Spartan Foundation’s Complete Champions Corporate reception.
More than $420,000 was raised at the event, which was held Nov. 17 at the Langley Events Centre.
That topped the $340,000 raised at the 2016 event.
The fundraising event featured Hollywood actor Neal McDonough, who has been in more than 100 movies and TV shows, including Band of Brothers and Suits.
“The Spartan Foundation is truly doing amazing things as they are helping to support a University that allows kids to believe in God and have faith in themselves,” McDonough said.
“The Spartan Foundation is working to help create a winning environment. It’s not just about the championships the Spartans have won, which is incredible, but it’s because of what TWU is doing beyond that, which has clearly made this a special place to be for student-athletes.”
The event focuses on raising funds for the Spartan athletic program and the Complete Champion Approach, with the intention of impacting student-athlete lives.
“We are so encouraged that this corporate fundraising reception continues to grow and gain momentum each year to help the teams and athletes,” said Steve Scholz, the executive director of the Spartan Foundation.
“We feel extremely blessed by the support from our corporate sponsors, table sponsors and donors who contributed to our matching fund, as well as those who donated on the day of the event.
“It is exciting to invest and help student-athletes grow and develop today, because they will be our future leaders.”
