Aldergrove Dodgers' pitcher Josh Krahn played an important role in denying the visiting Tri City team any runs home in the bottom of the seventh Saturday evening at Aldergrove Athletic Park. The hometown team took a 3-2 win in Bantam AAA baseball action.

Aldergrove Athletic Park will be a hub of activities over the next two weekends as Aldergrove Minor Baseball hosts two major baseball tournaments.

First up on the May 14-18 weekend is the 18U AAA Showdown Tournament, followed by the 13U AA John Main Tournament, May 21-24.

Aldergrove is hosting the 18U (Midget) AAA Showdown Tournament over the Victoria Day long weekend, May 14-18. This 10 team tournament will feature AAA and equivalent teams from Greater Vancouver, Vancouver Island, and the B.C. Interior.

Action begins at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 14 and semi finals are scheduled for the 11 a.m. first pitch on Monday, May 18. Finals will start at 2 p.m. Monday. Come out and enjoy some great baseball over the holiday weekend.

The two pools include South Fraser Giants, Richmond Chuckers, Cowichan Valley Mustangs, Nanaimo Buccaneers, Coquitlam As, Whalley Chiefs, Ridge Meadows Royals, Vernon Canadians, Aldergrove Dodgers and Kelowna Cubs.

It starts for the Aldergrove Dodgers (A) vs S. Fraser Giants (H) on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. and Aldergrove's next game will be Saturday at 9 a.m. on the sandlot, with Cowichan Valley (A) vs Aldergrove Dodgers (H). Coquitlam A’s (A) then play Aldergrove Dodgers (H) on Monday at 11 a.m. on Devon’s field.

The Semi Finals and Finals wrap up the day with the best of the two pools in action on the holiday Monday.

Aldergrove Minor Baseball is also hosting the BC Baseball John Main 13U (Peewee) Tournament with 16 Peewee AA teams coming from around the province.

This BC Baseball heritage tournament is limited to one team plus pick-ups from each association entered in four pools, and so this tournament features the top 13U (Peewee) talent in the province on four fields over four days. With four 13U (Peewee) fields, this is only the second time in the tournament's history that one association has been able to host all of the games.

The four pools include teams from Kelowna, North Delta, Duncan, Burnaby, Vancouver Minor, Chilliwack, Coq-Moody, Aldergrove, Ladner, Cloverdale, Abbotsford, Newton, Richmond, Nanaimo, Tsawwassen and Kamloops.

For Aldergrove action starts on Friday at 6 p.m. on field #1 with the Aldergrove Dodgers vs. Kamloops.

Next up is Saturday at 9 a.m. on field #2 with Burnaby vs. Aldergrove. Then at 6 p.m. on field #1 it will be Newton vs. Aldergrove.

The Semi Finals begin on Sunday at 10 a.m. with the top teams of the four pools playing on field #1 and #2, followed by the Finals at 2 p.m. on field #1.
