A show by children’s performers Bobs &Lolo, a costume parade, gold panning, face painting and a free barbecue are just some of the events that will be featured at this year’s BC Rivers Day celebrations at Langley’s Derek Doubleday Arboretum on Sunday, Sept. 24. The free, family-friendly event goes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
In addition to a performance by Bobs &Lolo, there will be animal displays, story time, a climbing wall, and a free hotdog barbecue lunch. Visitors are reminded to bring a refillable drink container. Langley’s event kicks off Water Week, which celebrates awareness of the importance of all B.C.’s waterways.
The Derek Doubleday Arboretum is located at 21200 Fraser Hwy., is home to the Langley Demonstration Garden, a fully accessible trail system, the Nicomekl River and a war memorial.
Parking is available at Langley Secondary School with a free shuttle to the Rivers Day event site.
