Celebration of Life on Monday for Melanie Walters

Accomplished horsewoman Melanie Walters died in a training accident on Feb. 13. A celebration of her life will take place on Monday in Aldergrove.

A celebration of life will be held for beloved horsewoman Melanie Walters on Monday, March 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Aldergrove Alliance Church.

Everyone is welcome to attend and a large crowd is expected.

Walters died Feb. 13 as a result of injuries she sustained during a training accident at her parents’ farm in Langley. It’s believed Walters was training a two-year-old when it accidentally flipped onto her. She died during surgery at hospital. Walters, 37, was a single mom raising her two young children, Caden, 7, and Laurel, 8.

Walters’ friend and fellow jumper Laura Balisky started a fundraising page for Walters’ children at Already, more than $20,000 has been donated.

Walters was also well-known and loved at Thunderbird Show Park, where she was an accomplished jumper and hunter.

Staff there are creating memory books for her two children. Walters was climbing the ranks as a trainer at Hastings Park when she died. The Aldergrove Alliance Church is at 26291 28 Ave.
