Biologist Andrea Gielens brought some of the coastal painted turtles to show Shortreed Elementary’s Eco-Tigers club members on Thursday, Oct. 24.
The turtles are raised from eggs in captivity, in a project in partnership with the Greater Vancouver Zoo, to give the endangered turtles a better chance at survival when released back into the wild.
