A Langley house, and in particular a home in the Willoughby area, is once again featured in a lottery prize package.

Multiple large charity fundraising campaigns in B.C. now focus on lotteries, where – along with a series of smaller windfalls and earlybird prizes – the winners gets to pick from 10 or so grand prize package complete with a multi-million-dollar house.

Consistently in recent years, many such lotteries have included a home in Langley being up for grabs, and most of those have been situated in the fast-growing neighbourhood of Willoughby.

Such is the case once again, as the Hometown Heroes Lottery recently launched its 2024 campaign, with one of nine grand prize homes located in Willoughby Town Centre, at #25-20680 76B Ave.

This 2,468-sq.-ft home with four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms, plus a two car garage, is worth more than $2.5 million.

This prize package also includes a 2024 Tesla Model 3 and $825,000 in cash.

Other grand prize homes to choose from are located in South Surrey, Vancouver, Courtenay, Sooke, Chilliwack, West Kelowna, and Burnaby.

Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and UBC Hospital Foundation and the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund (“Burn Fund”) launched ticket sales last month, and the lottery runs until July 11, or until tickets are sold out.

Every ticket purchased contributes directly to supporting funds for essential services at VGH and UBC Hospital, GF Strong Rehab Centre, and Vancouver Community Health Services, said Angela Chapman, president and CEO of the hospitals’ foundation.

“With every ticket sold, it’s more than just a chance to win, it’s an opportunity to directly impact lives,” said Chapman.

“The funds provided through the Hometown Heroes Lottery actively support our medical teams at VGH and UBC Hospital and help drive vital medical research forward,” she added.

“Your support allows opportunities for new equipment, treatments, research and clinical trials that will benefit patients throughout B.C. To all our lottery supporters, we extend our heartfelt gratitude. Together, let’s continue transforming healthcare throughout our communities.”

The lottery also backs Burn Fund initiatives aiding burn and trauma survivors province-wide.

These initiatives include the Home Away program, mental health support services, and the annual Burn Camp for young survivors, all making a profound impact on the lives of those in need across British Columbia, explained Jeff Sauve, executive director of the BC Professional Fire Fighters’ Burn Fund.

“The Hometown Heroes Lottery plays a crucial role in supporting survivor services and essential programs for burn survivors of all ages,” he noted.

“With your participation in the lottery, you are directly contributing to the enhancement of care and support for burn survivors and their families across the province and addressing their diverse needs. Together, we are making a meaningful difference in their lives.”
