Friday afternoon is time to celebrate.
The Langley Seniors Recreation and Resource Centre has a 25th anniversary celebration on Nov. 2 from 1 to 4 p.m.
There will be appetizers, coffee and cake, as well as door prizes, a slide show and memorabilia from the past 25 years.
Guest speakers will include Jim McGregor, LSRS board members and other notable guests connected to the centre at 20605 51B Ave.
People are asked to sign up at the reception desk to help with planning.
The non-profit Langley Senior Resources Society runs the centre which sits on City-owned land.
On April 28, 2008, someone set fire to the building, causing $3 million in damage. At the time of the fire, the centre had 1,200 members with about 2,000 local seniors using the facility. Members come from both the Township and City.
The centre had to rent space in other locations to offer programs and services. It offers recreation programs as well as outreach services, the dining room and catering, and the adult day program for those with phyisical or cognitive limitations.
