Navy cadets recognized for their top efforts

On Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m. the Central Fraser Valley Branch of Navy League of Canada will be having a recognition service

On Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m. the Central Fraser Valley Branch of Navy League of Canada will be having a recognition service for the cadets to honour their dedication, at the Cadet Training Centre at 4215 – 272 Street, Aldergrove.

In related news, on Sunday, April 15, at the Navy League of Canada 2012 Lower Mainland Division Provincial Drill competition in Vancouver, the local NLCC 125 Columbia Navy League Cadet Corp, under the leadership and training of civilian instructor Sherri Hession, ended a drought of 26 years and brought the title of Top Drill Team back home to the Central Fraser Valley.

The 10 cadets and the instructor who brought the trophy home devoted a lot of their personal time on evenings and weekends in anticipation of competing and restoring the pride of their Corp. The coincidence is that their current instructor was a member of the Corp Drill Team that took the trophy originally in 1986. She experienced two joys, the first in seeing the excitement in the eyes of her young cadets win the trophy on their first attempt, and secondly, seeing the trophy brought back home after so many years.
