Nearly 100 people came out to Well Seasoned Gourmet Food Store on Sunday evening to celebrate peace and love in the community with #ProjectPotluck.
The event, organized by Angie Quaale, was part of a nation-wide campaign created by Calgary foodie Julie Van Rosendaal in response to the recent violent events in Charlottesville, Va.
Rosendaal’s goal was to have the images of “angry torch-bearing racists” replaced with images of people carrying casseroles, curries, baklava and pie to a backyard barbecue.
“The event was awesome,” Quaale said. “People were so happy to be there, sharing good food, meeting new people and talking about the great things in life – there wasn’t an ounce of negativity in the place! Peace, love and pie.”
