VIDEO: Farmers market resumes in Fort Langley

Glover Road event runs every Saturday until December

Malcolm Weatherstone, manager of the Fort Langley Village Farmers Market was explaining the appeal of the annual event, held at St. Andrew’s historic church at 9025 Glover Road.

“We have a huge variety of vendors,” Weatherstone told the Langley Advance Times.

“Basically, we’re a B.C. farmer’s market, so therefore you’re going to have fresh foods from the farms locally here, and prepared foods, so your experience coming to the farmers market will be complete and enjoyable.”

Just a few weeks after the market had opened, on April 6, the sun was shining and it was busy, with the church parking lot filled with vendors and shoppers.

“We’re blessed with having a huge support of the local community,” Weatherstone remarked.

“We have over 10,000 supporters, so we find a lot of people here every week.”

The Fort Langley market is one of more than 140 farmers markets in B.C.

It features products from organic and pesticide-free food farms and Certified Safe BC prepared food vendors selling fresh local produce, including field greens, vegetables, fruits with fresh baked bread and pastries, organic honey, as well as local craft beers, varietal BC wines and spirits, prepared sauces and salad dressings, as well as jams and pickles and many non-food itemsas well.

An online market list of vendors includes Fort Langley’s Craigentinney Farms, which sells local grass-fed beef, pork, fresh eggs, and vegetables; the Festina Lente Estate Winery, BrEAThe Kitchen’s pies, and the Lark’s Nest which makes fruit jams and pickles, and many more sellers.

It advises not all vendors attend each-and-every market.

Those interested can look at the market Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/fortlangleyvillagefarmersmarket to find out more about who is attending on a given day.

The market runs every Saturday until Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

It will also open Monday, May 20th, for the 102nd Anniversary of the May Day parade in Fort Langley

There are also plans for “Christmas in the Village” Festive Markets on Dec. 20th, 21st, and 22nd, 2024.
