Since most Trinity Western Students view nearby Fort Langley as an unofficial extension of their Langley campus, it only makes sense to provide them with a place to hang out, according to Scott Fehrenbacher, Trinity Western University's Senior Vice President of External Relations.

"A lot of our students really regard (Fort Langley) as part of their campus experience," Fehrenbacher said Saturday.

He was being interviewed at the official opening of Trinity Western University House at 9272 Glover Road, the building formerly named The Bedford House.

"We're (TWU) somewhat hidden off of Glover Road," Fehrenbacher said.

"It was important for me to not only let the community see who Trinity Western is but also give our students the opportunity to extend their campus resources while they're in Fort Langley and supporting the businesses here."

The space has a large room for up to 30 people and a smaller community room, the "Spartan Faithful Lounge", with space for up to 16 to meet or watch live-streaming of TWU sports events.

There are also outdoor patio tables.

Food and drinks are not sold, but visitors are welcome to bring their own.

"I think it will (become) a real part of the fabric of Fort Langley in the future," Fehrenbacher said.

Trinity Western House will be open from noon till 8 p.m. Tuesday to Sunday.
