VIDEO: 1 dead after fatal crash on Aldergrove road

Second serious multi-vehicle crash in less than 24-hours on 264th Street

Aldergrove’s 264th Street was closed both ways for the second time on Tuesday, Dec. 5, after a fatal crash involving at least two vehicles resulted in one person dead.

Around 7:30 p.m., Langley RCMP responded to a report of a serious crash at 264th Street and 48th Avenue.

A driver of a Dodge pickup was waiting in the northbound lane of 264th Street to turn left onto 48th Avenue, and a Ford Taurus was approaching from behind.

“[The Ford] did not react to the stopped pickup truck until the last minute and swerved into the southbound lane, into the path of an oncoming 5-ton truck,” explained Cpl. Craig van Herk with the Langley RCMP.

From the impact, the Ford Taurus was sent down an embankment off the side of the road.

The fire department pried open the vehicle with the jaws-of-life, but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the 5-ton truck was uninjured and remained at the scene.

The street was closed until about 3:50 a.m. while Langley RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) and Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) assessed the scene.

Langley RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage to contact them at 604-532-3200.

Langley Advance Times has reached out to the Township of Langley fire department.

It’s the second serious multi-vehicle car crash on 264th Street in less than 24-hours. That morning, a rollover crash sent a passenger and driver to hospital with serious injuries. The road was also closed for several hours while Langley RCMP investigated.
