Hollweg takes over from Tyler Kuntz, who was named associate head coach in June of 2023, then took on the position of head coach and general manager after the team parted ways with Burt Henderson in January of this year.

Under Kuntz, the team finished seventh of nine in the BCHL Coastal Division regular season rankings and was defeated by Chilliwack Chiefs in the first round of playoffs.

Hollweg, a product of Southern California Hockey, has called Langley home for the past 25 years, where he lives with his partner Sheena and son Viktor.

He played for Langley Hornets of the BCHL during the 1998-99 season as a 15-year-old, before that team relocated to West Kelowna and took the name Warriors.

A former 1st overall draft pick to the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League, Hollweg spend five seasons there and captained the team that won the WHL Championship, and a berth into the 2004 Memorial Cup.

In 2001, Ryan was drafted by the New York Rangers in the eighth round, 238th overall.

He played 228 games with the Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Arizona Coyotes, and also played in the AHL as well as HC Skoda Plzen in the Czech Extraliga, the highest-level ice hockey league in the Czech Republic.

Hollweg has been coaching for the last six years, most recently guiding the Coquitlam Express during the 2020/2021 season.
