Langley swimmers dominate B.C. championships

LOSC took team title, again, won 42 gold, 26 silver and 28 bronze

Langley Olympians Swim Club (LOSC) dominated the Swim BC Provincial Championships, shattering provincial records and taking the team championship title for the third time in a row.

LOSC brought a team of 78 swimmers, who took the team score lead after every evening of racing from March 7 to 10 at Saanich Commonwealth Place on Vancouver Island.

It is the largest swim meet in the province, bringing together more than 600 swimmers from 38 teams.

At the end of finals on Sunday, LOSC won the team championship banner with a combined score of 3,558.5, which was more than 1,000 points ahead of second place.

LOSC swimmers took home 96 medals, 42 gold, 26 silver, and 28 bronze. As well, Leila Fack and Justin Jung earned the 17 and over aggregate awards.

Head coach Ryan Skomorowski called it ‘fantastic.”

“[It] shows the long-term commitment to excellence from both the swimmers and the coaches” Skomorowski said.

He extended a special thank you “for the support of all our aquatic facilities, as without access to these facilities and the support of the community, we could not accomplish such a rare achievement in the province.”
