Weather worries are taking the blame for a pair of sailings cancelled between Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland Thursday morning.

The Spirit of Vancouver Island will not set sail on the 7 a.m. out of Swartz Bay and the 9 a.m. from Tsawwassen due to adverse weather in the Strait of Georgia, BC Ferries said in an online statement.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us. We will continue to monitor this weather system and share further information as it becomes available,” reads the statement.
