The Gateway of Hope and Aldergrove Neighbourhood Services for youth have both opened their emergency shelters for the homeless to come in from the freezing cold temperatures.
Temperatures at night are dipping down to -8 degrees, and there is a possibility of snow over the weekend.
The emergency cots are on top of the regular shelter beds open at Gateway.
Langley RCMP, outreach workers, recreation centre staff and other community organizations are notified about the extreme weather emergency shelter openings so they can communicate that to the homeless people they encounter.
Youth who need shelter during extreme weather, are asked to call 604-530-6477 between 7 p.m. and midnight, and transportation to the shelter will be arranged.
