Langley RCMP are looking for a masked and armed man who attacked a teenage girl in Steel Park Friday morning.
A 17-year-old girl called police around 3 a.m. She said she was walking in the park around 2:30 a.m. when a man wearing a dark mask or balaclava attacked her, brandishing a knife.
Thankfully, she was able to fight him off and he ran away, said police. The park is located at 248 Street and 54 Avenue.
Lower Mainland Police Dog Services attended, however they weren't able to establish a track.
The teen was taken to hospital for treatment of her minor injuries.
The suspect is described as 5’10" tall, slender build, wearing all dark clothing and a dark mask or balaclava over his face.
Langley Serious Crime has assumed conduct of this investigation.
They are asking the public for help. Anyone who saw anything relating to this crime, possible suspects or suspicious persons in that area around that time, any suspicious vehicles in the area or even if the victim herself was seen walking in the park, call police to let them know.
The victim has long, dark hair and was wearing a grey jacket, boots (medium brown, similar to UGGs) and pink and white silk pajama bottoms.
In the meantime, police warn for park users to be diligent, don't walk alone and avoid isolated areas. Don't wear headphones and walk with confidence.
