Motorcyclist dies in crash in Abbotsford

The 24-year-old man collided with a commercial truck on Downes Road, just east of Bradner Road.



A 24-year-old Abbotsford man whose motorcycle collided with a large commercial truck died in hospital Saturday afternoon.

The crash occurred at about noon on Downes Road just east of Bradner Road in Abbotsford. The truck driver was headed west and was making a left turn into a driveway.

The motorcyclist, riding a Kawasaki Ninja, had just turned east off Bradner Road, travelled around the blind corner and collided with the truck.

The rider was thrown from the bike and suffered critical injuries. He was transported to hospital but died an hour later.

Const. Ian MacDonald said the driver of the truck remained on scene and was co-operative with police. The collision is still under investigation, but officers are looking into whether speed was a factor.

The name of the motorcyclist has not been released.
