Surrey Mounties are investigating after an overnight shooting left one person injured in the Port Kells areas of Surrey.
“Evidence-gathering is still underway, but initial indications are this was a targeted, isolated incident,” Sgt.Tammy Lobb, RCMP media relations officer, noted in a press release.
One man was sent to hospital with serious injuries, according to the release (issued Jan. 2).
Mounties first responded to report of shots fired in the 18900-block of 92 Avenue just after 10 p.m. on Jan 1.
“Officers located the victim, a 19-year-old man who is known to police,” Lobb said. “He was suffering from gunshot wounds and was transported to hospital by Emergency Health Services.”
Lobb noted the Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation. Officers are now trying to work out what happened that night.
