Phillip Cadrin and three-year-old son Eric got the first pickings of the season at Krause Berry Farms. With warm weather in the offing the delayed strawberry season has finally begun and the crops are starting to look good.

Canada Day Country Fair - at the Aldergrove Legion, 26607 Fraser Highway, fun for the whole family in our fenced area, July 1, noon to 4 p.m. Carnival games for children, childrens sack races, bouncy castle, Mr. Flowers balloon artist noon to 3 p.m., children’s magician Andrew at 12:30, flag tattoos, flags. Food: Canada Day cake, popcorn, cotton candy, hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, salads. For adults inside, dancing 3-7 p.m. to Bob Marlow. Come out and help us celebrate Canada’s birthday, have fun, win prizes, support our local charities.

Celebrate Canada Day in Historic Mt. Lehman - Start the day with a pancake breakfast at 7:30 a.m. at Mt. Lehman Community Hall, located at 6418 Mt. Lehman Rd. at Taylor Rd, north-west Abbotsford. Parade starts at 9:30 a.m. from the Mt.Lehman Credit Union 5889 Mt. Lehman Rd. Cake and festivities to follow at Mt. Lehman Community Hall.

Canada Day at Langley Centennial Museum - free, fun, family event at Langley Centennial Museum in Fort Langley, 9135 King Street. Events and activities, including crafts, face painting, a balloon artist, and old-fashioned games, run Friday, July 1 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., and will include a variety of performances and workshops.
