Chilliwack RCMP have confirmed the discovery of a man’s body in a drainage ditch on Saturday morning (Feb. 17).

Cpl. Carmen Kiener said the body was found by Chilliwack Central Road, and that they are working with the BC Coroner’s Office to identify the man. They are still conducting an investigation to determine the cause of death.

“There is no threat to the public and this is believed to be an isolated incident,” she said in an email to Black Press Media Sunday afternoon.

Police had Chilliwack Central Road closed off between Prest and Broadway for several hours on Saturday.

Witnesses reported on social that they saw several vehicles in a field to the north of Chilliwack Central, including an RCMP vehicle, a pickup truck and a tow truck.
