In Loving Memory ~

Brian William Macklin, of Langley, British Columbia, was born on May 1, 1954, and died at age 69 on February 20, 2024.

Brian was a beloved member of his community, a hardworking single father and a proud grandfather who was well known for his sense of humour and long-form jokes. As a dedicated employee of the Otter Co-op for over 40 years, he was also awarded Produce Manger of the Year in 2000.

A lifelong athlete and sports fan, Brian is also fondly remembered as an incredible coach. First as a coach with the Aldergrove Soccer Club in the 1980s where his team went on to win five Premier League Titles, five Packenham Cups and three Bradner Cups.

He later went on to coach the Murrayville Golden Olys, an over 30s soccer team, which had great success in the 1990s. Under Brian's leadership, from 1989 to 1997, the team won the league championship seven times and in 1995 won the provincial Masters cup.

Brian was also an avid National Football League fan, particularly as an Oakland Raiders supporter.

Brian is survived and lovingly remembered by his partner, Colleen Kelly; son William Wacklin (Rochelle); son Charles Macklin (Shaelyn); daughter Ruthie Macklin; sister Margaret-Ann Tower (Bill), brother Gordie Macklin (Kari); grandchildren Lucas, Theodore, Murphy, Isla, Penelope and Elora; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours.

Brian was predeceased by his brother Shaun (July 29, 1996); father William (September 11, 2005); and mother Alberta (March 22, 2011).

The funeral service will be on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 2 pm at Sharon United Church in Murrayville.
