Strong, stubborn, fiercely independent and a force to be reckoned with. That is how she lived her life. Elsie passed away on January 2, 2024 at the age of 104.
Born in Vancouver, B.C., she spent her youth in Peardonville where her family had a farm. She came to Aldergrove in 1941 to work at the post office.
In 1948 Elsie became a founding charter member of the Royal Purple Lodge #38 Aldergrove. She was a member of the original Aldergrove Agricultural Association and was instrumental in establishing the original Langley Walk.
Elsie was president of both the Aldergrove Elementary and High School PTAs, president of the United Church Foundation and United Church Women. She was a member of the Aldergrove Heritage Society, a two term president of the Senior Network in Aldergrove and in 2016 was presented with the Hilda Reddick Award for all her contributions to the Aldergrove community.
If that wasn't enough, she still had time to be an amazing Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma.
Predeceased by her beloved husband Trevor (2005) and son Murray (2016), Elsie is survived by daughters Dianne (Claude), Myrna (Cameron), grandchildren Jennifer (Mike), David (Meaghan) and four beautiful great-granddaughters Adrianna, Everleigh, Lilah and Logan.
A celebration of life took place on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 1:00 pm at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #265, 26607 Fraser Highway, Aldergrove.
