The Aldergrove Kodiaks redeemed themselves with a convincing 6-3 win over the Abbotsford Pilots, in game 2 of the first round of playoffs.
The win puts the teams at one win apiece in the best of seven round.
In the game Feb. 18 at Aldergrove Arena, the Pilots opened the scoring early in the first period but Kodiaks captain Aaron Markin evened it up four minutes later on a power play. Assists were from Cameron Davitt and Evan Cusmano.
In the second period the Kodiaks took charge with four more unanswered goals, before the Pilots notched one at the dying minutes to make it 5-2 for the Kodiaks. Kodiaks scorers were Quinncy Leroux, Scott McHaffie, Eric Callegari and Brandon Dolby. Assists came from Markin (2), Dolby, Spencer McHaffie, Wyatt Verluis, Dryden Wust, and Leroux.
The Pilots scored one more in the third on a power play but the Kodiaks responded with their final goal three minutes later. Scorer was Nolan Wallinger, assisted by the McHaffie twins.
The Kodiaks outshot the Pilots 30-27 and game first and third star were Markin and keeper Ben Giesbrecht, respectively.
The Kodiaks move to MSA Arena for game 3 and 4 this weekend, before returning to Aldergrove Arena for game 5 on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
