Four locals in all-star game

Two local skaters and two who play for the Aldergrove Kodiaks were among the skaters in an all-star game on Jan. 17.

The Pacific International Junior Hockey League staged their annual all-star event at Abbotsford’s MSA Arena.

Defenceman Cody Rowand and goaltender Brad Anderson, as well as forwards Mike Phillipson and Colton Precourt were selected for the Harold Brittain division.

Rowand and Anderson are both from Langley, while Phillipson is from Abbotsford and Precourt from Aldergrove.

The game was tied at end of regulation 14-14. The Tom Shaw division won in a shoot out goal scored by Konrad Sander.

Precourt notched two assists in the first period, while Phillipson scored one and got an assist in the second. Anderson also got an assist in the third. Rowand served the game's sole penalty in the first for high-sticking.

Phillipson was voted a first team all-star, and Anderson a second team all-star.

Anderson tends goal for the Abbotsford Pilots, while Rowand and Phillipson were traded from the Kodiaks to the Grandview Steelers last week.

With Phillipson’s departure, Precourt is the leading scorer for the Kodiaks.
