This past June 30 was a great day of soccer for Aldergrove mid-fielder, Joel Waterman.

His U-16 Surrey United soccer team won the Provincial Championship in the inaugural B.C. Soccer Premier Cup, held at Minoru Park in Richmond.

The final was an exciting game against Mountain United FC (Burnaby/North Shore) with no score after regulation time. Surrey finally scored in the first half of overtime, and held the 1-0 lead after playing out the full 20 minutes of overtime for the win.

Joel is a student at Aldergrove Secondary and played soccer for five years with the Aldergrove Soccer Club, then played with Langley United for four years.

This is his second season with Surrey United, and he is honoured to be part of the team that will represent B.C.

Joel is looking forward to travelling with the boys to Prince Edward Island in October for the Club Nationals Tournament, and is very eager to bring home the National Cup.

Joel would also like to wish all the best to Aldergrove Soccer and his friends on the U-16 Vipers, who are hosting and playing in the B.C. Soccer Boy's Provincial B Cup this weekend at Aldergrove Athletic Park.
