It’s official: Langley’s Sydni Kemper is bound for Grand Canyon University.

The teen had verbally committed to the Phoenix university two years ago and the now-Langley Secondary Grade 12 student signed her national letter of intent last week to join the women’s softball program.

“Sydni is a big, strong athlete who loves to compete,” said GCU coach Ann Pierson, in a press release announcing the Antelopes’ recruiting class. “She is a student of the game and is always working to improve her skills.

“She has a variety of pitches and the ability to locate and mix speeds — Sydni will get batters out with skill and finesse.”

Kemper is currently playing for two teams, one on each side of the border with the Seattle-based Washington Lady Hawks Gold and the Kaos, a senior women’s A team out of New Westminster.

She plans to study psychology with a minor in business at GCU.
