Jordan Sigalet has been hired as the Abbotsford Heat's first full-time goaltender coach.
Sigalet, a New Westminster native, joins Troy Ward’s staff after spending last season as the goalie coach with the WHL's Everett Silvertips.
"Jordan is such a quality guy, and the fact that he grew up here in the Lower Mainland make him a perfect fit with the organization here in Abbotsford," said Ward, who was hired as Heat head coach last month. "We are happy to be able to add him to our staff."
The Heat did not have a dedicated goalie coach during their first two seasons of existence. The Calgary Flames, the Heat's NHL parent club, had Jamie McLennan tutor the organization's netminders at both the NHL and AHL level.
Sigalet, 30, was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the seventh round of the 2001 draft after playing two seasons with the BCHL's Victoria Salsa. He landed a scholarship to Bowling Green University, where he spent three seasons and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award as the NCAA's top men's hockey player. After turning pro, he played three seasons for the AHL's Providence Bruins, and suited up for one NHL game with Boston.
Sigalet is a co-owner and instructor with Pro Formance Goalie School.
